Welcome to the official site for Raw Spirit.
Based in the North East of England we are one of the longest serving members of the North East’s vibrant music scene….the original band started way back in 1969 (check out the “about” tab above for more info).
Whilst the band members and style of music has evolved over the years, Raw Spirit has always been rooted in the Blues. The current set list includes a mix of music drawn from the best Blues, Soul and Rock & Roll from artists including Joe Cocker, Tina Turner, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Bruce Springsteen, The Ides of March, Primal Scream, The Doobie Brothers and many, many more.

I’m trying to contact John Phillips on a former drummer with Raw Spirit in the seventies any help would be much appreciated as my brother Rocky May who used to roadie for the band would love hear of him also Len former singer with kind regards

Thanks for getting in touch. Unfortunately we no longer have any of the original members left in the band. The original bass player and band historian, Keith Patterson, sadly passed away a few years ago. Our current trumpet player, Jim Hall, was on the scene in the 70’s so I shall check with him and get back to you if he is able to pass on any info that may help.

I REMEMBER SEEING RAW SPIRIT AT NEWCASTLE CITY HALL SUPPORTING THE KINKS I STILL HAVE THE TICKET STUB.
